Justification

bsText: Roman 5:1-21
Memory Verse:Being justified by faith we have peace with God” Roman 5:1

Introduction: The law and justice of God stipulate death as an ultimate penalty for sin. But Christ pronounced freedom to such an accused fellow from their sins consequently, they are discharged and acquitted from such sins. Justification simply means “Just as you have not sinned.” It is the state you are in at the time you receive Jesus. This is our focus in today‘s lessons.

1. WHAT IS INVOLVED IN JUSTIFICATION?

  • Sin is forgiven
  • Guilt and punishment of sin is removed. Micah 7:18-19
  • God forgives the sinner(s) and forgets his/her sin(s).
  • The sinner is considered righteous through the righteousness of Christ.
  • The righteousness of God is transferred to such a sinner consequently he/she becomes perfect as God or righteous as God.

2. HOW IS JUSTIFICATION OBTAINED?

  • Through God our Father. Romans 5:9
  • Justification is Christ’s grace to sinners. So it can be obtained by grace. Romans 3:24
  • Through His resurrection power. Romans 4:25
  • God justifies through his son Jesus Christ

3. CAN I RECEIVE JUSTIFICATION

  • The answer is “Yes” then comes another question, how?

a. Believe that Jesus died for your sins.
b. Believe that your sins sent him to the cross.
c. Regret that Jesus the righteous stood in your place. He being treated as unrighteous while you were treated as righteous.
d. Cry, in your regret for mercy. He will answer you and justify you.

4. HOW CAN I KNOW THAT I AM JUSTIFIED

  • The following manifestations will indicate that one has been justified.

a. Your Faith will be totally planted in the Lord.
b. Your Faith in Christ will propel you to work for Christ. James 2:21-28
c. Your new righteous life’s style will point to the fact that you are justified.
